Rated 5 out of 5 by BrookeLyn from Huge Challenge! I Included Some Help Tips Too! Based on the completed game. Actually it never completely, completes.:-) It took me 11 day’s to finish this game. No, I didn’t sit all day everyday playing it. Very well worth the money!! I gave up so many time’s on this but kept coming back, I hate being defeated.
I received a score of 608 better than I thought I would get! Highly recommend as other’s have to play part one first. “Return To Mysterious Island”. Yes, it picks up exactly where that one leaves off and I played them back to back. It makes you eager for part 3. However I read some pretty negative reviews of part 3. Part one is much easier than part two FYI!
Return to Mysterious Island 2, the sequel to adventure game Return to Mysterious Island released in 2005, and inspired from Jules Verne’s novel The Mysterious Island, offers the player an experience comparable to that of Robinson Crusoe or one of Verne's characters. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island was released in cinemas on February 10, 2012 by Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema and Walden Media to mixed reviews, but became a box office success with a worldwide gross of nearly $335 million, surpassing its predecessor. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island was released on DVD/Blu-ray on June 5, 2012.
I had a lot of problems with the flickering shaky screen running Windows 7 64bit in both the beginning and the end. Not sure why the middle was okay? It’s still a huge challenge even with a walkthrough! If you can finish this game without any help, you must be super human! No real spoilers but I had to go way back to a saved game because I used up my clay.

DO NOT use more than one piece of CLAY for all the pottery! Also I thought about just not finishing because I didn’t have the seaweed anymore and needed it to finish. I searched everything online to no avail! I just happened to have Mina go to the inlet out of chance after the green fog set in and valla. There was seaweed!! So other than the Clay that you cannot get more of.
Search every nook and cranny if you don’t have something! I spent a day trying to figure out how to clean the sphere (found no online help) almost gave up again. Once it’s all put together just push the red button. Hope anyone who’s playing this as many years late as I did enjoys this. For being as old as it is, it’s laterally the most challenging game I’ve ever played! That’s a good thing.
I hate HOGS love pure adventure and this is it! Rated 5 out of 5 by lionessSue from The very best!
This game is so unique!!! I've never seen one to match it. It was the most challenging & interesting game I have ever played in Big Fish.
The inventory is huge and you combine items to make things that you then combine for even more items. I don't usually RE-play games but I am on my 3rd time around with this one. Even the 3rd time playing, I still needed a walk-through to help me combine items.
It is so intricate. If you are looking for an unusual game with hours and hours of playing time.this is the one!

The interactions are limited to character you are playing. The choices you make can determine the difficulty of the game. I really enjoyed the 1st game and could wait to play this one. I was not disappointed. I like the maker of this game and will be looking for their other games, Love the adventure, No HOG. Walkthrough available, if you get stuck. May help in combining items.
You can pick your options of speed and such @ the beginning or when you return to game. Helpful Hint: You can also go back to a previous save and start from there if you lost an item you can not get back. HINT Save the game after completing something very difficult, so you do not have to do it again. SPOILER ALERT crossing swamp, once it on map then its ok.
If they make a part 3, I'll will buy it. Rated 5 out of 5 by dpeanut2037 from Im in love with this game! With Return to Mysterious Island, It took me a bit to sink my teeth into. It was just so different for any other game on Big Fish. When I got use to the 360 degree views and the combining of items to make others, I found myself forgetting that I was playing a game. It was like a movie that I couldnt take my eyes off of. I thought, how can they out do themselves with a part two?
Let me tell you, First time ever, I just finished part 2 and Im going to start all over again with one. Im sad that its over and want to do it all again. A very long game, ya gotta use your brain for sure, but I would have paid twice what I paid for this game. SOOOOO worth every single penny!
I want more games like this Big Fish.pretty please:-). Rated 5 out of 5 by Sergeij from Once Again, A Great Victory for Kheops Studio! Kudos to Benoit Hozjan, Executive Producer and Managing Director of Kheops Studio, Located in Paris, France.
They just keep giving us one brilliant game after another, much like HER INTERACTIVE does with the NANCY DREW SERIES. This sequel to 'Return to Mysterious Island' is far more complex and even more interesting than its predecessor.
Kheops even managed to bring Michel Ardan and his Selenites (Moon People), along with their voices, to this game. I was both surprised and elated! This game is LOADED with puzzles and mysteries, both underground - in caves - and on the surface. Mina even has to go underwater with her diving equipment to fix critical wreckage that is blocking the safety of all on the island. She and Jep are confronted by a veritable 'army' of vicious and warlike simeons, and even have an 'official' council meeting to see what they can do to confront this very real problem. There are alternate endings, and, without giving anything away, I must say that, no matter what your choice, you'll probably want to change it.
This was a large and very difficult game that will keep your engine racing right up to the last scene! BRAVO, BIG FISH GAMES! Rated 5 out of 5 by jacqueline1812 from Can I Be Mina Please? If ever you dreamt of being on a deserted island and living rustically, then this game will immerse you into that environment like no other. I first played Return to Mysterious Island a few years ago when I came accross it at the computer games shop. I was totally wrapped by the gameplay and have played it numerous times since. When I saw this sequel I was overjoyed and knew I had to have it.
Immersing yourself in the deserted island life is a fantastic experience and thes games have the ability to really draw the player into the environment. Although there are no hints, etc. It doesn't matter, all the better really as it keeps you guessing and brings out your imagination on how you would carry out the tasks you need to carry out. The tasks etc are so realistic that you can just imagine yourself in the scene. The graphics and sound quality is great.
Although not entirely necessary to have played the first game to undrstand this one, having played the first part of the series - Return to Mysterious Island adds more meaning and structure to the gameplay and makes a few things in the storyline easier to understand. I am thankful I was able to reimmerse myself in the island, discover new locations and build on things I had done in previous gameplay.

Game menu The game menu is accessed by right clicking the mouse while playing the game. The buttons on the left side of the screen from top to bottom are: Menu: Return to the main menu of the game. All objects that are collected are automatically added to the transit area of the inventory window.
From here, you can either organise the items by placing them into a page on the inventory by yourself or press the auto button to store them automatically. Some objects can be combined by selecting the item using it on another item in the inventory. Sometimes three or even four items can be used in order to make one new object.
Refer to the item combinations at the bottom of this section for more information. Some objects in the inventory will have a small white box at the bottom-right corner of the image, which means that the object can be disassembled. To do this, select the object with the white box and then select the disassemble icon at the bottom-right corner of the inventory window.
Below the auto button at the right side a blue bar is displayed. This is the pride bar, which will stay at the maximum level unless easy mode is selected on some of the mini-games.
The counter below the pride bar is the coping score, which increases with most positive actions that are made in the game. A picture of Jep and Mina is shown at the bottom-left corner of the inventory window and a health gauge is also displayed. At some points in the game you may need to eat food or wear different items in order to raise the health gauge. Icons Neutral: Standard icon displayed when no action can be performed. Horizontal scroll: Hold down the left mouse button on an oject where this icon is displayed and then move the mouse left or right. Vertical scroll: Hold down the left mouse button on an oject where this icon is displayed and then move the mouse left or right.
Mini-games There are a few mini-games scattered throughout the main game which range from actions such as fishing in the lake to collecting termites on a stick. The mini-games are all set at a reasonable difficulty, although the mini-game can be made easier by selecting the easy difficulty button that appears. Doing this will lower the pride score however, which in turn has a an effect on the coping score. Both the pride and the coping scores can be seen on the inventory menu. Flexibility in puzzles and restoring gauges Many sections of the game allow you to be quite flexible with how you solve certain puzzles.
For example, you need to build a fire at one point in the game and there are many inventory items that can be used to make this happen. The game is designed in a way that it makes it difficult to get stuck by using the wrong item, so feel free to experiment by using different items than I suggest in the walkthrough as you progress through the game. Some goals in the game suggest restoring Mina or Jep’s energy gauge to green by eating food, or to raise a character’s friendship bar to green. There are many possible items that can be used to do this, so again experiment to find different items to use. ITEM COMBINATIONS The following objects can be made by combining different inventory items.
Note that some objects here can be created using a number of different items.
